Description:
The Governor General's palace in Batavia built in 1873 is also know as Istana Negara. It was used as the residence of the Governor General of the Dutch East Indies during the colonial era. The Istana Negara serves as an official venue for state events such as the Independence Day ceremony, welcoming (foreign) dignitaries, cabinet meetings, state banquets, reception of letters of credence from foreign ambassadors and sometimes used as residence of president of Indonesia.
